Specialized Boarding
We understand that you have many choices in the Lewisville, Flower Mound and Highland Village area when it comes to boarding your pets over the holidays or when traveling. However, we want you to understand that not all boarding is the same. We believe that the boarding service at Dr. Doolittle’s Animal Hospital is superior to the other facilities in our area for the following reasons:
We only board pets belonging to our clients. We do not accept animals that we have not seen before. Consequently, we know the medical history and disposition of the animal. This creates a safer and healthier environment for your pet and our staff.
- We have a strict policy requiring that all pets boarding with us be current on vaccinations and free from known diseases. Other facilities are sometimes more liberal; we know because we often treat the kennel cough that their boarders contract.
- All dogs are individually, hand-walked at least four times per day. There is no communal “potty time” nor are the animals expected to go to the bathroom in their cage.
- Dr. Doolittle herself, a veterinary technician or trained kennel staff (not minimum wage employees) frequently monitor all pets during normal business hours.
- Your pet is periodically monitored after hours and on weekends by Dr. Doolittle or her husband by means of internet cameras installed at their hospital that allow the doctor or her husband to view (in color), listen to and speak to your pet through a secure, private internet connection.
- On the weekends kennel staff are required to call Dr. Doolittle at the beginning and end of each shift to report the condition of each animal. If an animal needs medical attention, Dr. Doolittle will come to the hospital to examine and treat the animal.
- We feed Science Diet Sensitive Stomach or the owner’s food to avoid an upset stomach for your pet caused by the stress of boarding.
- Extra care, attention and assistance are given to older dogs that may have trouble walking or getting up. For example, we provide extra padding, mats and blankets for the older dogs or you are welcome to bring your own.
- We offer a “Top Dog” status option, which includes one extra walk and administering any medications that your pet is on. This can be beneficial for older dogs or puppies that need to go out more often or older dogs on multiple medications.
