Dr. Doolittle
Yes, I do talk to the animals. Unfortunately, the difficult part of a veterinarian’s practice is understanding what the animal is saying to the doctor. On my blog, I will explain some of my techniques for communicating with the animals. At present, I would like to introduce you to my practice and myself.
I am a 1987 graduate of Texas A & M Veterinary Medical School. Upon graduation, I began my career working for a mixed animal (small and large) practice. After several years of 2:00 a.m. farm calls trying to help 800 pound cattle that were sick and inadvertently trying to step on me, I “hung up” my mud boots and began my small animal career in earnest. Before opening my own hospital in 1995, I worked for several small animal-only clinics gaining valuable experience with many different cases and styles of practice.
For seven years I have served on the Board of Directors of the Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association. I was elected as president of the association in 2005. In a typical year I attend approximately 30 hours of continuing education seminars on topics relative to current canine and feline issues.
Today, I practice very high-quality, cutting-edge medicine at my hospital located in the Highland Village Town Center (Kroger Shopping Center) on FM 407. My hospital has the latest blood pressure and oxygen monitors, several types of EKG machines and fluid pumps, state-of-the-art digital x-ray equipment, complete laboratory services and surgical suite. If my diagnostic results show the need for a specialist, referrals are made to one of many board-certified specialist veterinarians in Dallas, generally to the Veterinary Referral Center of North Texas.
I’m passionate about acquiring animals from a rescue or adoption group. There are plenty of breed specific organizations here in North Texas. In effort to support these local groups, I have been providing Luck & Legends, the Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation of Texas, with veterinary care since 2008.
If you are new to the area or in need of a veterinarian, please stop by our hospital for a tour and the opportunity to meet my staff and me.
